Indigestion remedies at home

Indigestion is one of the common problems we face. Indigestion means when the food doesn’t get digested properly. It can be caused due to various reasons like fast earring, over eating, fried food. Due to indigestion you feel uncomfortable due to fullness in the stomach and sometimes you can feel pain too. Indigestion can be a symptom of ulcers, acid reflux or gastritis. This is not a disease, it is just a condition when your metabolism is not working properly. However, whenever you feel that you do not have to go outside as you can find many indigestion remedies at home.

  1. Peppermint tea:

Peppermint is not only a mouth freshener. It provides a great relief in indigestion problems, nausea and vomiting. You can have a cup of peppermint tea after having your meal to help in digestion. However, if you have a problem of acid reflux then you should avoid peppermint tea as it soothes the sphincter muscle which stops stomach acid from coming up in oesophagus, so peppermint can worsen the problem with acid reflux. 

  1. Chamomile tea:

Generally chamomile tea is used to have a good sleep and it also helps in reducing anxiety. One more benefit of chamomile tea is that it helps in digestion by decreasing the amount of acid in the gastrointestinal tract. It is also known for its anti inflammatory effects which helps in reducing pain. Just take tea bags in a cup of water and add honey. However, you should avoid it if you are taking blood thinner as chamomile has anticoagulant property which will be problematic with blood thinner.

  1. Apple cider vinegar:

One of the indigestion remedies at home is ACV which has numerous applications and benefits from hair and skin care to weight loss. It also helps in increasing the stomach acid’s production and ease the digestion. Add one to two teaspoon of ACV in a glass of water and drink after or before a meal. You should always have diluted ACV to avoid many issues.

  1. Ginger:

Ginger is used to treat cough and it also reduces the amount of stomach acid to ease the digestion. Both too low and too high amounts of acid cause problems digestion. You can have ginger tea, ginger juice with honey or even boil ginger with water and then add lemon and drink. The intake of ginger per day should be only 3 to 4 grams as more intake can cause throat burn, gas or heartburn.
